Somewhere over the rainbow

This beautiful song from “The Wizard of Oz” has a wonderful sentiment that can be quite comforting. Over the rainbow there is no suffering and dreams are a thing of reality. For the question “Why, oh why can’t I?”, our angels have the answer “you can”.

There are many many recordings of this song from the original Judy Garland recording to the famous Eva Cassidy version, from Kylie Minogue live to Jewel. Our favourite, which is probably not quite so well know, is by Ingrid DuMosch as it has a modern but childlike feel to it.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can’t I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?
